Florida Budget Includes $50 Million for Jackson Health System
Florida's proposed state budget includes $50 million for the financially ailing Jackson Health System, according to a report by the Miami Herald.
The funds are to be provided under certain conditions, including if Congress votes to give more Medicaid funding to the states, and if Jackson can provide guarantees that it is operating efficiently, according to the report.
In addition, County Manager George Burgess said he would send several people with budgetary, financial, managerial and operational expertise to work on the Jackson campus for the next two to three months full-time to help the hospital address its financial problems, according to the Herald.
