Ex-employee charged with theft in Riverside Health System data breach

A former employee of Newport News, Va.-based Riverside Health System was arrested and charged for stealing credit card information from cancer patients, according to a report from The Virginian-Pilot.

T'sha Riddick worked with Cancer Specialists of Tidewater and has been charged with identity theft and fraud, according to the report.

In relation to the theft, the health system has announced a potential data breach of financial information. The health system is still unsure how Ms. Riddick accessed the information, but spokesperson Peter Glagola said in the report they do not believe she accessed it through the system's computers.

The compromised information includes credit card numbers and Social Security numbers.
