CMS rates Foundation HealthCare surgical hospitals 5-star: 5 things to know

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded the Foundation Surgical Hospital of San Antonio and Heritage Park Surgical Hospital in Sherman, Texas, five-star ratings.

Five-star is the highest rating possible. Here are five things to know about the hospitals:

1. Both hospitals are Foundation HealthCare portfolio hospitals

2. The five-star rating includes the hospitals' performance on several publicly reported measures, including the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey.

3. The recognition means the hospitals are in the top 7 percent of hospitals nationwide.

4. Foundation Surgical Hospital of San Antonio has 20 private beds and was opened in 2007. There is a four-to-one patient-to-nurse ratio. The hospital includes orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, ENT, pain management and bariatric surgery.

5. Heritage Park Surgical Hospital is a physician-owned facility that opened in 2005 and includes 10 patient rooms with eight operating suites. The services include imaging, orthopedics, pain management, neurosurgery and gastroenterology.
