Beating out facilities such as UNC Hospitals, Cary (N.C.) Urology was given approval from the North Carolina Division of Health Services to build a $9.85 million prostate cancer center in Raleigh, N.C., according to a report in the Triangle Business Journal.

Cary Urology was one of four applicants proposing to build a prostate cancer center in Raleigh. The multi-disciplinary center will include a linear accelerator, which treats cancer with targeted, concentrated radiation, according to the report.

Aside from UNC Hospitals, other applicants included the Cancer Center of North Carolina and Carolina HealthCare System. The three systems say they will review the state's decision before pursuing an appeal.
