California's Eisenhower Medical Center Expands to Meet Population Growth

Eisenhower Medical Center, in Rancho Mirage, Calif., completed its $212.5 million expansion with a dedication ceremony, according to a report in The Desert Sun.

The new Walter and Leonore Annenberg Pavilion, a 250,000-square-foot building with 250 beds, will increase the total number of beds at the hospital from 285 to at least 400, with patients moving into the building in July. An ICU on the first floor has private waiting areas for patients' families, and there are also coronary care and cardiac surgical units, as well as an ICU for neurosurgery patients.

The expansion is expected to reduce patient overcrowding at a time when the population in the region is growing, officials told the Desert Sun.
