California Hospital Using Text Messaging to Handle ED Waits

Riverside (Calif.) Community Hospital is using text messaging to reduce wait times at its ED, according to the hospital's Web site.
Using the hospital's "Know Before You Go" system, patients receive a place in line and an estimated wait time without having to first report to the ED.
The system cuts wait time after arrival at the ED and helps the hospital design ways to become more efficient.
