Arizona Hospital Association Drops Plan for New Tax to Pay for Medicaid

The Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association has decided not to ask for an income tax increase on high-earning households to pay for the state's Medicaid program, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.
The association was planning to file a ballot measure asking voters to impose an additional 1 percent tax on individuals' income over $150,000 and couples' income over $300,000 to help pay for the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System.
In announcing its decision to drop the proposal, the association said it would work with the legislature and governor "to explore solutions to the current challenges associated with funding" the program.
