AHA Supports New Bill Repealing Antitrust Exemption for Health Insurers
The American Hospital Association supports a newly introduced bill in the U.S. House of Representatives that would repeal the federal antitrust exemption for health insurers, according to a report by AHA News Now.
The Health Insurance Industry Fair Competition Act (H.R. 4626) was authored by Reps. Tom Perriello (D-Va.) and Betsy Markey (D-Colo.).
The AHA previously urged the Department of Justice's Antitrust Division to more closely scrutinize mergers and other activities by health plans.
