Rising stars: 25 healthcare leaders under 40 | 2015
Becker's Hospital Review is pleased to name the following 25 men and women on its list of healthcare leaders under 40 years old.
This list of leaders includes impressive hospital, health system and accountable care organization executives who have accomplished much in their relatively short careers.
The Becker's editorial team considered nominations and selected leaders for this list through an editorial review process, including reviews of peer nominations.
Note: Leaders are presented in alphabetical order and could not pay for inclusion.
Benjamin Anderson. CEO of Kearny County Hospital (Lakin, Kan.). Mr. Anderson, 35, has served at the helm of KearnyCountyHospital, located about 230 miles outside Wichita, since June 2013. [READ MORE]
Alastair Bell, MD. COO of Boston Medical Center. Prior to his 2012 appointment as COO of Boston Medical Center, Dr. Bell, 39, worked for five years with McKinsey & Company, a management consulting firm, where he was a central member of the team that worked with BMC to develop its strategic plan. Tim Bowen. President of INTEGRIS Grove (Okla.) Hospital. Mr. Bowen, 31, assumed his role as president of INTEGRISGroveHospital in January. [READ MORE]
Andre Boyd. CEO and Senior Vice President of Jackson North Medical Center (Miami Beach, Fla.). Mr. Boyd, 38, has served as CEO and senior vice president of JacksonNorthMedicalCenter since December 2014. [READ MORE]
Gyasi Chisley. CEO of Methodist North Hospital (Memphis, Tenn.). At 39, Mr. Chisley already has nearly 20 years of hospital operations, academic medicine and consulting experience under his belt. [READ MORE]
Amar A. Desai, MD, MPH. CEO for USC Care and Ambulatory Care Services (Los Angeles). For over a decade, Dr. Desai has focused on improving patient care. [READ MORE]
J. Eric Evans. CEO of the Texas Region at Tenet Healthcare (Dallas). In April, Mr. Evans, 37, was appointed CEO for Tenet Healthcare's newly created Texas Region, leaving his post as CEO for Sierra Providence Health Network in El Paso, Texas, which he had held since September 2012. [READ MORE]
Delvecchio Finley. CEO for Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (Torrance, Calif.). Since being named a 2014 Rising Star by Becker's Healthcare, Mr. Finley, 38, has been tapped to take on the role of CEO for Oakland, Calif.-based Alameda Health System starting August 31. [READ MORE]
Peter Fleischut, MD. Associate Chief Innovation Officer, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (New York City). As associate CIO of NewYork-Presbyterian, Dr. Fleischut, 37, oversees numerous hospitalwide efforts to implement innovative technologies, mHealth and data analytics, building on the health IT groundwork he laid as a professor in the hospital's anesthesiology department and as founding director of the Center for Perioperative Outcomes. Mario J. Garner, EdD. President and CEO of New Orleans East Hospital. In the summer of 2013, Dr. Garner was hired as President and CEO of a yet-to-be-built hospital in eastern New Orleans. [READ MORE]
John Gennaro. Director of Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Mr. Gennaro, 37, was appointed director of the Cincinnati VA Medical Center, a facility that delivers care to more than 43,000 veterans per year and has an operating budget of more than $387 million, in May. [READ MORE]
Dustin Greene. CEO of TriStar Horizon Medical Center (Dickson, Tenn.). Mr. Greene, 36, was named a 2014 Rising Star by Becker's Healthcare and has since been appointed CEO for TriStarHorizonMedicalCenter, a 130-bed hospital and accredited chest pain center within the TriStar system. [READ MORE]

Todd Karpinski, PharmD. Chief Pharmacy Officer and Executive Director of Pharmacy Services at Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin-Froedtert Hospital (Milwaukee). As CPO, Dr. Karpiniski is responsible for all operational, clinical, financial, ambulatory and retail operations for three acute care hospitals and over 300 primary and specialty clinics across Milwaukee. Sean Tinney. Senior Vice President and COO for Medical West, an affiliate of the UAB Health System (Bessemer, Ala.). Before being appointed senior vice president and COO for Medical West in 2013, Mr. Tinney, 39, accumulated more than a decade's worth of administrative experiences in Ascension-affiliated hospitals. Eric Weaver. CEO and President of Integrated ACO (Austin, Texas). Before being named president and CEO for Integrated ACO in 2014, Mr. Weaver, 38, managed a portfolio of cardiology practices for Austin, Texas-based St. David's Healthcare. [READ MORE]
Denise Webber. COO and Vice President of Administrative Services of Stillwater (Okla.) Medical Center. Ms. Webber has been an integral part of the Stillwater administration team since 2006, serving as vice president of administrative services and COO since 2012. [READ MORE]
