The following hospitals are within counties designated as the healthiest in each of the 50 states.
That ranking comes from the newly released County Health Rankings, produced through a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
The rankings determine health based on 29 outcomes and factors, including smoking, obesity, excessive drinking, high school graduation rates, violent crime, unemployment, housing problems and more. Counties are ranked relative to the health of other counties in the same state, and each of the counties below secured the No. 1 spot within their states.
This list was developed with information from the American Hospital Directory, which can stratify hospitals by county. The hospitals below include rehabilitation and specialty facilities. Counties without hospitals listed on AHD are denoted with "N/A." Washington, D.C., is not included. Please note that this article was originally posted with a listing for 167 hospitals, later adjusted to include Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Fla., which should have been included upon initial publication.
