The Veterans Affairs Department and VA Secretary Robert McDonald have announced they are working as quickly as possible to fire employees who were responsible for the long wait times many veterans faced at VA facilities across the country, according to a report by the Associated Press.
It is still unclear how many employees will be fired. However, it appears the VA will fire any supervisor who manipulated medical and patient data, as that is the course the agency has already taken in
The firing process will be expedited under the Veterans Access, Choice, and Accountability Act of 2014, which President Barack Obama signed into law this month. Under the law, it is easier for the VA Secretary to fire or demote VA executives.
