NYC man sues Elmhurst Hospital after being treated for pneumonia and losing hand

A man admitted for pneumonia to Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens in November 2016 left the NYC Health + Hospitals' facility with a gangrene infection on his arm. Months later, the patient's his right hand had to be amputated, according to a report from PIX 11.

The patient's lawyer filed a notice of claim with New York City on June 21. The man plans to sue the hospital for $100 million, according to the report.

NYC Health + Hospitals said it is reviewing the claim, according to a statement obtained by PIX 11.
