Judge orders conditional approval for Colusa hospital deal

A bankruptcy court judge gave conditional approval for San Diego-based American Specialty Healthcare to take control of the lease of the property where Colusa (Calif.) Regional Medical Center previously operated, according to the Appeal-Democrat.

According to a press release from Colusa county officials, the approval is conditioned on the county's additional consent to a short-term lease between American Specialty and the bankruptcy trustee while American Specialty applies to assume CRMC's suspended license from the California Department of Public Health.

Representatives from Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health attended the hearing and reportedly expressed minor concerns over the change in ownership, but did not maintain any significant opposition to the deal, according to the article.

The next hearing is set for Nov. 4.

The medical center entered into a sale agreement with American Specialty in July for $1.1 million to take over various assets belonging to the medical center included in the estate.
