Florida physician forced to close doors over mistaken identity

A physician in West Palm Beach, Fla., had to temporarily close his office doors after he was mistaken for a dead New York surgeon with the same name who was convicted of Medicare fraud, according to a WPBF report.

Andre Celestin, MD, became aware of the mix-up when CVS pharmacies began refusing to fill his patients' prescriptions. The patients were told Dr. Celestin's medical license was suspended, according to the report.

Although the case of mistaken identity has hurt Dr. Celestin's business and reputation, it also caused some of his patients to go without their medication.

CVS released a statement to WPBF saying a claims processor had confused the names, and CVS has reached out to the third-party claims processor to resolve the issues.
