Independent Sac-Osage Hospital to close

Sac-Osage Hospital, a financially struggling independent hospital in Osceola, Mo., will be shuttered by Sept. 1, according to a Ky3 report.

Even though the hospital facility itself will close, SOH struck an affiliation agreement with Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Mo., about 40 miles from Osceola. Through the affiliation, CMH will take over SOH's ambulance service operations and operate a clinic. The clinic will have a family medicine practice, a walk-in clinic, telehealth services, an outpatient lab, imaging and rehabilitation services.

CMH could hire some of the closing hospital's 60 employees to operate the clinic developed through the affiliation, according to the report.

"I believe that our new affiliation with CMH will strengthen the ability to provide high quality healthcare in Osceola by ensuring crucial services that are vital to our community are offered," said SOH Board Chairman Brandon Baker in a news release on Ky3's website. "Those services include strong primary care providers, full service outpatient services, a walk-in clinic and an ambulance service."
