Devices can now be shipped to hospital beds in under 4 hours

UPS has developed a healthcare-specific network of field stocking locations which will allow medical device manufacturers to ship products within four hours.

The 36 field stocking locations, strategically located facilities supporting time-sensitive distribution, will provide manufacturers faster access to 80 percent of hospital beds nationwide, according to a news release.

"Due to an increasingly complex regulatory environment and significant cost pressures, medical device manufacturers are looking to the supply chain to lower costs through inventory reduction and enhanced visibility," said John Menna, UPS vice president of global healthcare strategy, in the news release. "Based on our experience in healthcare distribution and utilizing UPS's industry-leading global [field stocking locations] network, we have created a tailored inventory management and distribution solution to meet the unique needs of medical device manufacturers."
