WVU Hospitals, union reach tentative labor deal

West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown and the Laborers' International Union of North America Local 814 have reached a tentative collective bargaining agreement, averting a strike, according to a MetroNews report.

The union represents more than 900 WVUH service workers.

In a statement, WVUH officials said they are pleased an agreement has been reached and expect union members to vote on the new contract sometime next week.

Meanwhile, the existing contract will be extended past its Jan. 1 expiration date, and the union has rescinded the strike notice, issued Dec. 22, according to the hospital.
