NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital workers hold picket over contract

Workers at Bronxville, N.Y.-based NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital picketed Tuesday to highlight their struggle for a contract and the connection to patient care, reports the Bronxville Daily Voice.

The workers, represented by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, have been in negotiations since last October, and have been without a contract for nearly a year, according to the article. Their last negotiation session Aug. 8 was unsuccessful.

Workers said they want to negotiate a contract with wages and a pension that are on par with the contracts of union members who work in the New York-Presbyterian health system at other sites in the area, reports the Bronxville Daily Voice.

Geoff Thompson, a spokesman for Lawrence Hospital, told the publication the hospital is continuing to negotiate in good faith with the union.
