Hazel Hawkins Memorial, nurses reach tentative labor contract

Registered Nurses at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in Hollister, Calif., have reached a tentative contract agreement with hospital management, according to an announcement Thursday from the California Nurses Association.

The new four-year pact, which covers the 120 RNs at Hazel Hawkins, includes adequate meal and rest breaks and 12-hour rest periods between shifts, and maintains pension, health and dental plan coverage, the union said. It also includes 9 percent raises over the term of the contract and creation of a nurse quality forum, among other things.

RNs will vote on the agreement Friday.
