Florida hospitals seek healthcare employees to meet demand: 4 things to know

Hospitals in southwest Florida are making efforts to recruit healthcare workers in a number of areas, The News-Press reports.

Here are four things to know.

1. The demand for healthcare jobs in southwest Florida is attributed to various factors, such as regional growth, a short supply of highly trained medical professionals and an aging workforce, the report states.

2. The Cape Coral-Fort Myers metropolitan area added nearly 2,000 health-related positions over the last 12 months, according to the report, which cites state data.

3. Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health specifically averages 800 job openings at any point, according to the report. The health system seeks nursing positions, as well as primary care physicians and support positions.

4. At Naples, Fla.-based NCH Healthcare System, there were roughly 200 open positions up for grabs this week, according to the report. Sandra Danielson, NCH's talent acquisition manager, told The News-Press half of the vacancies are for nursing, especially nurses qualified to staff cardiac and operating room units.
