Cape Cod Community College is partnering with Hyannis, Mass.-based Cape Cod Healthcare to expand its nursing program and offer students more employment opportunities, according to The Barnstable Patriot.
Here are four things to know about the partnership.
1. Under the partnership, students who earn an Associate of Science degree in nursing and pass a state exam will be eligible for employment at Cape Cod Healthcare, Michael Lauf, president and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare, said in the report. He noted the program will help fill 70 jobs a year that have a base pay of at least $50,000.
2. Students working at Cape Cod Healthcare can also continue their schooling to earn a bachelor's degree in nursing, Mr. Lauf said.
3. Cape Cod Healthcare invested $1 million in the new program.
4. The new program is slated to begin in the fall of 2017 and will involve a complete renovation and expansion of the college's nursing program space.
