UW health affiliate strikes direct care contract with employer

Rockford, Ill.-based SwedishAmerican, a division of UW Health in Madison, Wis., has partnered with Woodward, one of Rockford's largest publicly held companies, to provide an employer-based health clinic exclusive to Woodward's 3,600 employees and their dependents.

The clinic will employ three medical providers, a clinic manager, care navigator and several medical assistants and nurses. It will offer a full scope of primary care services, including routine office visits, acute illness care, chronic disease management and wellness and preventive care.

Additionally, SwedishAmerican will provide on-site occupational medical services at Woodward locations in Rockford, including a variety of wellness programs and educational initiatives to help employees and their families improve nutrition and fitness behaviors.

Woodward is offering similar plans to its employees in Colorado in conjunction with UCHealth of Aurora, Colo.

The clinic in Rockford is slated to open Jan. 1, 2017.
