University General Health System to divest 6 outpatient departments

Houston-based University General Health System has announced it is in the process of eliminating non-performing assets, which includes six of the system's outpatient departments.

The health system will divest Houston-based UGH Diagnostic Imaging, Houston-based UGH Physical Therapy, UGH Kingwood (Texas) Diagnostic and Rehabilitation Center, Sugar Land, Texas-based Robert Horry Center for Sports and Physical Rehabilitation, UGH Woodlands (Texas) Physical Therapy, and UGH Waxahachie (Texas) Diagnostic Center.

Hassan Chahadeh, MD, chairman and CEO of UGH said the savings achieved by the divesture of the outpatient departments will contribute to the $13 million in annual cost reductions that have been implemented at University General Hospital in Houston — the health system's flagship hospital.
