University General Health System Completes Purchase of South Hampton Community Hospital

Houston-based University General Health System has closed its purchase of South Hampton Community Hospital in Dallas as well as an adjacent, 23,000-square-foot medical office building.

The two organizations announced the agreement in December.

University General Health paid $30 million to acquire South Hampton. Of the total price, $1.5 million was paid by University General and $28.5 million was financed by First National Bank, according to the release. University General plans to invest at least $1 million of additional capital into the hospital complex and to supply working capital, as needed, to support its business model of providing first-class healthcare service in a quality environment, according to the release.

South Hampton Community Hospital will be renamed University General Hospital-Dallas.
