Texas's Seton Hospitals Plans to Acquire Smithville Hospital
Central Texas-based Seton Family of Hospitals is planning to acquire Smithville (Texas) Regional Hospital, according to a report by the Austin American Statesman.Smithville hospital is currently a public operation but will become private under Seton. According to Seton officials, Seton will buy the hospital equipment and own the rights to operate the hospital. They will lease the land and buildings for 30 years with the option to renew for another 20.
Seton sees the entry into Bastrop County as a way to increase its presence in East Texas, according to the report.
