Sound Shore Health System, Westchester Medical Center in N.Y. to Merge

Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y., and New Rochelle, N.Y.-based Sound Shore Health System have made the first steps in forming a corporate merger by signing a memorandum of understanding, allowing them to pursue exclusive talks, according to a Daily Voice report.

The merger will include three hospitals: Westchester Medical Center, Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle and Mount Vernon (N.Y.) Hospital, which Sound Shore Health manages.

According to the report, details on how the proposed merger would affect services or the landscape of the hospitals are not available.
