Rutherford Regional Health System Signs Memorandum of Understanding With Mission Health

Staff -
Rutherford Regional Health System in Rutherfordton, N.C., and Mission Health System in Asheville, N.C., signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding for RRHS to become a member of Mission Health.

The organizations began negotiating a memorandum of understanding for an affiliation in September.

Under the terms of the proposed agreement, RRHS' board of trustees will continue to provide input on the strategic direction of the health system. In addition, the agreement outlines Mission Health's willingness and ability to strengthen the quality of care provided at RRHS, protect employees, improve the health system's financial viability, enhance the services it provides and collaborate with medical staff to benefit the health and wellness of the community, according to the release.

Mission and RRHS will now enter into a joint planning process to define and quantify the initiatives and resources that will be required to address existing and future needs of RRHS' service area, according to the release.
