Omaha-based Nebraska Medicine will now operate the University Health Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The change in leadership also comes with a major change to hospital's patient health record system, according to The Daily Nebraskan.
Director of Student Health Operations Jill Lynch-Sosa said the organizations began exploring the possibility of an affiliation a few years ago. The decision went into effect Jan. 1.
UNMC leadership made a change to hospital's EHR system. UNMC implemented the Epic medical record system on June 28.
At the request of parents, UNMC is now in-network with most insurance companies.
For students who pay the necessary university and program fees, the number of covered counseling and psychological service visits will increase from three to four. UNMC will also cover 100 percent of some wellness labs and STD testing, according to the article.
