Mercy Health System, Rockford Health System to merge

Janesville, Wis.-based Mercy Health System and Rockford (Ill.) Health System have announced they are merging to create a five-hospital nonprofit health system that will provide healthcare services to patients in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

Through the merger, a new parent organization, which has yet to be named, will be formed, and Mercy Health and Rockford Health will maintain their respective names.

The merger has been approved by the boards of directors of both organizations, and they do not expect the transaction to be challenged during the regulatory review process.

"This dynamic partnership will provide our patients with outstanding, coordinated care that encompasses nearly every medical specialty and is delivered conveniently and close to home," said Javon R. Bea, president and CEO of Mercy Health.
