Loma Linda University Health inks affiliation deal with telemedicine in mind

Loma Linda (Calif.) University Health has entered into an affiliation agreement with Bear Valley Community Healthcare District, which includes Bear Valley Community Hospital in Big Bear Lake, Calif.

Under the agreement, Loma Linda will provide resources to develop specialty care service lines at Bear Valley Community Hospital and Bear Valley Hospital Rural Health Clinic. A streamlined system will be used for referrals for patients who require specialty care not available at Bear Valley Community Hospital, such as endocrinology and cardiology. There is also a plan under development for the organizations to use telemedicine to conduct specialty consultations with patients at Bear Valley Community Hospital.

Loma Linda University Medical Center CEO Kerry Heinrich showed excitement about the partnership. "We are thrilled at this new opportunity to expand our services to this community and work in collaboration with Bear Valley Community Healthcare District," he said.

Bear Valley Community Hospital CEO David Faulkner shared Mr. Heinrich's enthusiasm about the affiliation. "The mission of Bear Valley Healthcare District is to deliver the highest quality healthcare to residents of and visitors of Bear Valley through the most effective use of available resources," he said. "The affiliation with Loma Linda University Health is an exciting opportunity for us and for the community we serve."
