Jordan Health Systems in Plymouth, Mass., and Boston-based Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center announced plans for JHSI to become part of BIDMC.

The organizations will begin due diligence immediately with the intent of signing a definitive agreement later this year. According to the release, JHSI would retain its local management, board governance and non-profit status as a member of BIDMC.

Atrius Health in Newton, Mass., a non-profit alliance of independent medical groups that selected BIDMC as its preferred tertiary hospital a few years ago, will also enter into talks with JHSI.

There is no specific timetable for the definitive agreement. According to the release, the organizations will update the community as necessary.
