Huggins Hospital, Wentworth-Douglass Health System Won't Pursue Further Affiliation

Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, N.H., and Wentworth-Douglass Health System in Dover, N.H., have decided not to expand their collaboration, according to a Foster's Daily Democrat report.

Huggins and Wentworth-Douglass had been exploring the possibility of a deeper affiliation involving the creation of a comprehensive healthcare network. However, based on the input and review of management, trustees and outside advisers, the organizations have decided not to expand their current collaboration, according to the report.

Greg Walker, president and CEO of Wentworth-Douglass, told the Democrat the final analysis "didn't support a more structured affiliation," although they do plan to continue their clinical and programmatic relationship. Wentworth-Douglass and Huggins work together in various areas, including the Huggins hospitalist program, according to the report.

Huggins Hospital President and CEO Michael Connelly said the two organizations had a "positive dialogue" during the past several months despite their ultimate decision not to pursue an affiliation and that Huggins staff members look forward to continuing collaboration with Wentworth-Douglass, according to the report.
