Hospitals, ASCs take note: 7 essential lessons from real hospital-physician ASC partnerships

In an upcoming webinar, Robert Zasa, MSHHA, FAMPE, founder and managing partner of ASD Management, will lead a presentation examining the traits of successful joint ventures and pitfalls to avoid with case studies from real situations. While both hospitals and ASCs stand to gain significant benefits from partnerships, some potential hazards exist and these will be examined from cases studies based on actual experiences from the speaker.

As populations continually seek options for outpatient care, it is in hospitals' and physicians’ best interest to identify ways to gain an edge on this market, because in partnering with ASCs, both can gain efficiencies and improve their attractiveness to payers, third party administrators, IPAs, and self-insured businesses.

Ambulatory surgery centers and outpatient care are increasingly becoming the preferred option for patients over inpatient care, as services generally cost less in the outpatient setting and patients can usually get home faster.

Mark Babin, vice president of development at ASD Management, told Becker's Hospital Review there are four significant benefits hospitals and physicians gain from joint venture ASC projects. These include leverage with commercial payers, improved volumes, quicker turnaround times and physician alignment.

The webinar, sponsored by ASD Management, will take place Wednesday, April 1, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CST. You can register for the webinar by clicking here.
