Henry Ford Health System to expand Michigan footprint

Allegiance Health in Jackson, Mich., has signed a definitive agreement to join Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System.

Through the transaction, Allegiance Health — a single-hospital system — will expand its services, build clinical capacity and improve its facilities and technology.

Henry Ford Health System CEO Nancy Schlichting said the partnership will help Henry Ford meet its goal of expanding its reach to communities beyond southeast Michigan.

The two organizations signed a letter of intent to join forces last November. Pending regulatory approvals and the closing process, the two organizations expect the deal to be finalized April 1, 2016.
