HealthPartners, Park Nicollet Complete Merger

A new integrated health system has been finalized in Minnesota, as HealthPartners in Bloomington, Minn., and Park Nicollet Health Services in St. Louis Park, Minn., completed their merger agreement.

Effective Jan. 1, the two organizations are officially joined under the HealthPartners name and a single consumer-governed board of directors, according to the news release. The merger was first announced in August and cleared antitrust review in November.

HealthPartners now has five hospitals, 44 primary care clinics and 18 urgent care locations within its system. It also has a multispecialty group practice of more than 1,700 physicians and one of the largest non-profit commercial health plans. The merger makes HealthPartners one of the largest integrated health systems in the Midwest and the largest consumer-governed, non-profit healthcare organization in the nation.
