Duke LifePoint Healthcare acquires WestCare Health System

Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint Healthcare acquired Sylva, N.C.-based WestCare Health System.

Under the terms of the acquisition agreement, Duke LifePoint purchased Harris Regional Hospital, an 86-bed hospital in Sylva; Swain County Hospital, a 48-bed hospital in Bryson City, N.C.; and WestCare Medical Park, an outpatient medical facility in Franklin, N.C.

Duke LifePoint will also invest $43 million in capital improvements over the next eight years and provide resources to help WestCare Health grow.
