Consultants to Weigh Possible Sale of El Centro Regional Medical Center in California

The city council of El Centro, Calif., voted to hire a consulting firm to evaluate the benefits of a potential sale, lease or affiliation of California's last city-owned El Centro Regional Medical Center, according to a report by the Imperial Valley Press.

City Manager Ruben Duran said prospective partners have expressed interest in ECRMC, but he declined to share names, according to the report. El Centro Mayor Benjamin Solomon said the hospital is profitable and has shown stable, positive performance, but he noted a partnership could strengthen the hospital in the long term.
