Children's Hospital of San Antonio Finds Two New Partners

The Children's Hospital of San Antonio, part of the Christus Santa Rosa Health System based in the same city, announced agreements with two Houston partners, Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital, according to a report by the San Antonio Express-News.

Baylor, whose pediatrics department is rated third in the country by the National Institutes of Health, will handle staffing and will train physicians for the children's hospital. Texas Children's Hospital, which is the largest children's hospital in the country and was rated fourth-best by U.S. News & World Report, will provide consulting and clinical expertise, according to the report.

Christus Santa Rosa closed its adult hospital last July and pledged $135 million to convert the facility into a children's hospital. In September, a planned partnership fell through with the University of Texas Health Science Center, which formed agreements with others to build a new — and competing — $350 million children's hospital in San Antonio.
