Ascension forms national senior care health ministry

St. Louis-based Ascension, the nation's largest nonprofit Catholic health system, has formed Ascension Health Senior Care, a national organization that will bring together all of Ascension's senior-focused programs.

Ascension Health Senior Care will include assisted living, independent living and skilled nursing facilities, as well as PACE programs. The organization will oversee 5,568 senior care/senior living beds and 725 PACE program enrollees, according to a news release.

"By bringing together the services and programs that are serving seniors across our national health ministry, we will enhance care through shared best practices and increase focus on caring for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of seniors," said Anthony R. Tersigni, EdD, president and CEO of Ascension, in the release.
