8 Recent Hospital Transactions and Partnerships

The following hospital mergers, acquisitions and general transactions took place within the past week, beginning with the most recent.

1. NextCare Clinic Continues Expansion in New Mexico
Mesa, Ariz.-based NextCare Holdings — one of the nation's largest providers of urgent care and occupational medical services — opened its third clinic in New Mexico since 2013. The clinic was opened in partnership with Albuquerque, N.M.-based Lovelace Health System.

2. MedWest Haywood Hospital Sale to Duke LifePoint Moves Forward
MedWest Haywood, a public hospital authority in Clyde, N.C., reached an agreement in principle concerning its pending acquisition by Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint Healthcare.

3. Natchez Regional Medical Center Sale to CHS Approved by County Board
The Adams County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the sale of Natchez (Miss.) Regional Medical Center to Community Health Systems, based in Franklin, Tenn.

4. Lahey Health, Winchester Hospital Make Partnership Official
Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Health and Winchester (Mass.) Hospital made their partnership official after an extensive review of the proposed affiliation by the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission.

5. Mercy Memorial Health System to Join ProMedica
Mercy Memorial Hospital System in Monroe, Mich., a 238-bed nonprofit community hospital, signed a letter of intent to join Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica.

6. Columbia Memorial Hospital, Albany Medical Center to Form Alliance
Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, N.Y., and Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center began working toward a strategic affiliation.

7. San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital, Loma Linda University Health Care to Affiliate
San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital, a nonprofit hospital in Banning, Calif., entered into exclusive talks with Loma Linda (Calif.) University Health Care concerning an affiliation.

8. Siskin Hospital Officially Acquires St. Barnabas Healthcare Center
Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation officially acquired St. Barnabas Healthcare Center, which is also headquartered in Chattanooga.
