UnityPoint Health-Allen in Waterloo, Iowa, is a non-profit, acute-care community hospital and an affiliate hospital of UnityPoint Health.  

Here are 10 things to know about UnityPoint Health-Allen.

1. Pamela K. Delagardelle serves as president and CEO.

2. Renee Rasmussen serves as CFO.  

3. The hospital has 204 beds.

4. The hospital has 1,197 total employees.  

5. In 2011, the hospital performed 3,300 inpatient surgeries, 9,700 outpatient surgeries and 700 births and had 74,700 outpatient visits, 11,100 non-admitted emergency department visits and 8,100 admitted emergency department visits.  

6. In 2011, the hospital recorded $474.9 million in gross charges and $22.9 million in net income, according to the American Hospital Directory.

7. The hospital received a Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades in 2013.  

8. UnityPoint Health-Allen opened in February 1925. The original building still stands, surrounded by many additions, including the latest, completed in 2009.  

9. The UnityPoint Health system as a whole cares for one in three patients in Iowa.    

10. Henry Allen, who settled in Waterloo in the 1860's, donated $200,000 in 1913 to found the original hospital in honor of his late wife, Mary.
