Newton (Kan.) Medical Center is a non-profit, acute-care hospital serving residents of Harvey and Sedgwick counties in Kansas.

3. The hospital has 103 beds.

4. The hospital has 440 total employees.  

5. In 2011, the hospital performed 1,000 inpatient surgeries, 3,200 outpatient surgeries and 14,900 outpatient visits.

6. In 2011, the hospital recorded $135.7 million in gross charges and $5.8 million in net income, according to the American Hospital Directory.

7. The hospital received a Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades in 2013.  

8. Newton Medical Center was established in 1988 following a merger of Axtell Christian Hospital and Bethel Deaconess Hospital, both founded in the 19th century.        

9. Newton Medical Center offers a healthcare assistance program for lower-income patients who do not qualify for public benefits.

10. Newton Medical Center hosts a monthly discussion series called "Dinner with the Doctor." Each event covers a different health concern, and the discussion and Q&A session that follows are free and open to the public.
