Bozeman (Mont.) Deaconess Hospital is a healthcare bastion in the three-county area of southwest Montana and has earned a reputation of high-quality care throughout the entire state.

Here are 10 things to know about Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.

1. Bozeman Deaconess Hospital is currently in the process of hiring a new CEO. Stan Moser took over as CEO in January 2012 after former CEO John Nordwick retired, but Mr. Moser left, citing differences in a "common vision" with the board of trustees.

2. Gordon Davidson is the CFO of Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.

3. Bozeman Deaconess Hospital has 86 beds with all private rooms. It is a Level III Trauma Center and has one of Gallatin Valley's most comprehensive list of medical services.

4. The hospital is the largest private employer in the Gallatin Valley with approximately 1,400 employees and more than 160 physicians on the medical staff across 45 specialties.

5. According to the most recent financial data reported on the American Hospital Directory, Bozeman Deaconess Hospital recorded more than $243 million of total revenue last year. Net income was approximately $13 million for a 5.3 percent profit margin.

6. Last year, the hospital recorded roughly 10,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries, approximately 1,300 births and almost 18,000 emergency room visits.

7. Bozeman Deaconess Hospital has received several awards over the years. HealthGrades recognized the hospital with the 2012 Joint Replacement Excellence Award and five-star ratings for coronary interventional procedures, total hip replacements and treatment of bowel obstruction.

8. Bozeman Deaconess Hospital officially opened in 1911, recently celebrating 100 years of service as a non-profit community hospital, as a partnership between the Bozeman community and the Methodist Church. The two groups purchased the 20-bed facility for $20,000, which previously was known as both the Blair Sanitarium and Bozeman Sanitarium.  

9. The "deaconess" in the hospital's name represents the Methodist deaconesses, or women who dedicated their lives to the church. They also ran the hospital for many years at the beginning of the hospital's history.

10. Bozeman Deaconess Hospital opened a new emergency department in July 2012 with 19 patient rooms, up from the previous 10.
