Yale-New Haven Hospital physicians visit the Gates Vascular Institute

Representatives from Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Hospital recently visited the Gates Vascular Institute in Buffalo, N.Y., part of Buffalo-based Kaleida Health, to learn about its internationally-renowned stroke program, according to Kaleida.

Here are five things to know about the visit:

1. The visit took place April 29.

2. It was initiated by Charles Matouk, MD, assistant professor of neurosurgery and diagnostic radiology at the Yale School of Medicine.

3. Dr. Matouk initiated the visit after attending a physician training in the Jacobs Institute in Buffalo earlier this year, where he met neurosurgeon Adnan Siddiqui, MD, according to Kaleida.

4. Visitors from YNHH included three physicians and five administrators who met with approximately 15 GVI physicians, nurses and administrators throughout the day. They also watched live endovascular procedures.

5. Areas of particular interest to the group, according to Kaleida, are: patient flow, peer review process, quality initiatives, research and staffing.
