WVU Tech, West Virginia medical school ink partnership

Beckley, W.Va.-based West Virginia University Institute of Technology signed an agreement earlier this month allowing WVU Tech undergraduate pre-medicine students the opportunity to enroll at the Lewisburg-based West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine prior to graduation, according to MetroNews.

Eligible WVU Tech students pursuing a career in medicine will be assigned a WVSOM faculty advisor. If the student maintains a 3.4 GPA or higher, they will have the opportunity to receive an expedited application review and early admission interview to the medical school.

"We are very pleased to have WVU Tech as one of our partners for WVSOM's pre-osteopathic program," said WVSOM President Michael D. Adelman, DO, JD. "It allows for early identification of the best and brightest students who have an interest in osteopathic medicine, and lets us provide guidance and mentorship to prepare them for the rigors of medical school."
