White Plains (N.Y.) Hospital has opened the White Plains Hospital Medical and Wellness Center in Armonk, N.Y., which is comprised of an urgent care center, comprehensive imaging center and medical offices.

White Plains Hospital Medical and Wellness' urgent care center will be open seven days a week for after-hours ailments and injuries, such as the flu, sore throats and common sprains. The center is staffed by board-certified physicians and is open from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.

In addition to the urgent care center, the new facility also offers comprehensive primary care and other services, such as pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, endocrinology and specialty surgical consultations, as well as laboratory services and a physical therapy space.

"We have been a trusted provider of quality health services for residents of northern Westchester for years," White Plains Hospital President and CEO Susan Fox said in a statement. "And we are pleased to now make many of those exceptional services available closer to home for this community."

Rafael E. Torres, MD, director of emergency medicine at White Plains Hospital, will serve as the medical director for urgent care service at the new center.
