Seattle-based UW Medicine and Kennewick, Wash.-based Trios Health have agreed to a strategic collaboration that will provide Trios Health patients access to the highest level of care for advanced services, while both organizations work together to improve quality, safety and cost effectiveness, according to The News Tribune.
Under the agreement, UW Medicine will be the "healthcare system of choice for complex tertiary and quaternary care for Trios Health patients," according to a news release.
The collaboration does not include a change of ownership, control or governance for either system, and it is not a financial agreement, according to the report. The new relationship is expected to create a smoother process when transferring Trios patients to UW Medicine facilities, as well as greater collaboration with and access to UW Medicine personnel.
The agreement took effect April 1.
