US Anesthesia Partners adds partnership with 90-physician practice in Colorado

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based U.S. Anesthesia Partners inked a deal Tuesday to partner with Denver-based Greater Colorado Anesthesia, a group of 90 anesthesiologists serving across more than 20 facilities.

Founded by Greater Houston Anesthesiology, Dallas-based Pinnacle Partners in Medicine and Orlando, Fla.-based JLR Medical Group, USAP is the country's largest anesthesia-focused physician organization, with more than 1,500 providers.

"Partnering with USAP is a unique and fortunate opportunity for GCA. As we move into the next era of healthcare in the Denver market, we are looking to invest in data-driven quality analysis, administrative resources, information technology and other initiatives to improve the care and value that we deliver to our patients and customers," Peter Harkness, MD, president of GCA, said in a statement. "USAP's resources and the opportunity to collaborate with such a highly-regarded partnership of clinicians in other major markets will provide GCA with the tools necessary to meet the increasing quality and affordability demands of the patients, hospital systems and payers that we serve in our community."

Michael Holland, chief development officer of USAP, said in the statement that USAP's physician partners will continue to govern their own practices. The organizations did not disclose the conditions of the agreement, according to the statement.
