University of Louisiana Monroe is back to the drawing board on establishing an osteopathic medical school after Long Island-based New York Institute of Technology backed out on operating the new school, according to a report from The News Star.
NYIT withdrew after reviewing its strategic operating plan, according to the report. ULM's board had already granted NYIT a license to operate the school. The two schools had planned to create the medical school under a nonbinding memorandum of understanding, according to the report.
ULM President Nick J. Bruno said in a statement the school fully intends to expand its health sciences offerings and open a medical school with a different partner, according to the report.
