University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix receives full accreditation

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education granted the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix full accreditation June 9, according to a UANews report.

Kenneth Ramos, MD, PhD, interim dean of the UA College of Medicine-Phoenix, received a call from LCME last week informing him of the decision.

The committee completed a site visit to the university's Phoenix campus earlier this spring and met with 120 faculty, students and staff during the four-day review. Officials said they would provide the university with a comprehensive report within the next month detailing the site visit and the more than 100 performance elements they evaluated.

"Earning full accreditation is an important milestone in the evolutionary history of the University of Arizona's College of Medicine-Phoenix," said UA President Robert Robbins, MD. "Full accreditation assures students that they are getting an outstanding education and it demonstrates to Arizona residents that the University of Arizona is graduating exceptional physicians."
